Al-Ubeidiyeh Municipality Represents the State of Palestine in International Youth Exchange “Understanding AI – Shaping Our Future Together” in Germany

The Mayor of Ubeidiyeh Municipality, Mr. Mohammad Al-Rdaydeh “Abu Sand”, on behalf of the Municipal Council members and the Municipality staff, congratulated the participants on their safe return to Palestine, expressing his appreciation for their active participation in this international Youth Exchange, which brought together young people from diverse cultural backgrounds to exchange knowledge and experiences in the field of Artificial Intelligence and digital technology.

Ubeidiyeh Municipality represented the State of Palestine through Eng Woroud Hasassneh, together with a group of young people from the local community, as part of the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project “Understanding AI – Shaping Our Future Together”, funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme.

The project was hosted by the City of Lauenburg/Elbe, Germany, with the activities taking place in Ratzeburg, Germany, from 25 July to 4 August 2026.

The Youth Exchange brought together participants from five countries: Palestine, Germany, Poland, Türkiye, and Georgia. The project aimed to explore the opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence and digital media, as well as their impact on the everyday lives of young people. It also promoted intercultural dialogue, international cooperation, media literacy, social participation, and personal development.

A key focus of the programme was to enhance young people’s understanding of the rapid developments in Artificial Intelligence and their implications for society, while promoting the responsible, ethical, and safe use of technology. Participants also explored ways to create meaningful digital content, raise awareness of online risks, and contribute to a safer digital environment, particularly for children and young people.

Through workshops, practical activities, group discussions, and intercultural learning, participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences and perspectives, build international connections, and develop ideas and collaborative approaches towards the future of Artificial Intelligence and the role of young people in shaping it.

The Mayor highlighted the importance of international youth exchanges in empowering Palestinian young people, developing their skills, and strengthening Palestine’s presence in international programmes and cooperation initiatives. He also reaffirmed Ubeidiyeh Municipality’s commitment to supporting young people and creating opportunities for them to gain international experience and develop their capacities in technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Ubeidiyeh Municipality takes pride in this international participation, which brought together knowledge, technology, and intercultural exchange, while providing Palestinian young people with an opportunity to share their perspectives and contribute to discussions about building a more informed, safe, innovative, and collaborative digital future.
